Redpill and Norwegian Linpro sign letter of intent
"We will become one of Europe's biggest Open Source companies"
Redpill and Linpro, the Nordic Region's two leading open source companies, merge as Redpill acquires all shares in Linpro. The new Group will be operational in August and intends to continue expansion in the Nordic region. The establishment of one of Europe's biggest open source companies is a victory for the end customer.
(Stockholm and Oslo, May 20, 2008)
As a result of this merger Redpill-Linpro will be able to provide a complete selection of services pertaining to all established Open Source products.
"The synergies between our companies are enormous. We complement each other extremely well with respect to product selection, services, and skills, at the same time that we share extremely few common customers. Linpro has a strong brand in Open Source in Norway, while Redpill has an equally strong position in Sweden," says Anders Liling, CEO of Redpill.
"We see great opportunities to develop several new cutting edge service concepts that we will obtain by blending our skills and products. The merger also means a clear strengthening for our development department. The new Group creates greater security and with a serious financial partner behind us we can offer even better services to our customers," says Trond Heier, CEO of Linpro.
According to the two companies, clear business logic underlies the merger. The companies can directly combine and expand their consulting organization, educational activities and product development. Redpill has a strong support operation, while Linpro is on the cutting edge with respect to advanced operating services.
The companies also complement each other well with respect to products. Redpill's strength lies primarily in middleware, SOA, databases and procedure systems, while Linpro traditionally focuses on infrastructure products and solutions.
The new Group also expects to continue to pursue its expansion strategy in the rest of the Nordic market. Both Redpill and Linpro currently have a growing number of customers in the Danish market and plans are underway to establish a presence in Finland.
Redpill is acquiring all shares in Linpro. The newly formed Group will have a total of 170 employees.
